The village of Lourmarin
25 km from Gordes and our hotel, Lourmarin, the jewel of southern Luberon, invites you for a stroll. Classified among the most beautiful villages of France, it is highly appreciated for its lifestyle and Provençal market that takes place every Friday morning.
While looking around, you will be able to appreciate the architecture of the village that is revealed, as you wander through the streets and fountains, with its different styles, epochs and countless treasures. From the Renaissance to the Baroque, from the Classicism of the XIX century, the houses of Lourmarin bear witness to the incomparable expertise of the great builders.
From the terraces of the Renaissance chateau (the finest in Provence), you will admire the most beautiful view of the village with, in the foreground, the bell tower of the Protestant church, a witness to the history of the followers of Vaudès, followed by the Catholic church and, further away, on the rocky outcrop of Castellas, the belfry built in the XVII century on the site of an ancient castle. That is why Lourmarin is known as the "village with three steeples".
Lourmarin is also a place of culture where many artists have lived. Two writers, Albert Camus and Henri Bosco, fell in love with the village which became their final resting place. Both are buried in the cemetery in Lourmarin.
